KaTHY BAKER

Other than a smattering of fine art and design classes in college, Ms. Baker is a self -taught creative.    Best known as a fiber artist, her artistic expressions take the form of weaving, basketry, gourd art and kiln fired art glass and ceramics as design elements.

    Ms. Baker uses natural sources for her creations including pine needles, sweet grass, sea grass, gourds, willow reed, and natural wool roving.   Many of the colors in her basket reeds and hand spun art yarns, she solar dyes in the New Mexico sun.

     She is a member of the Las Cruces Potters’ Guild and the Fiber Arts Network.  Most recently, she been chosen as an exhibitor to the Celebration of Clay (Santa Fe 2019), From the ground Up(Las Cruces 20190, The Albuquerque Fiber Fest( Virtual 2020), and Fire and Fiber(Las Cruces 2020).
